Subway and financial district

We spent the day down in the financial district. We rode the subway which was super fun. Waited on the wrong platform for about 20 min wondering why our train never came then we finally saw the sign directing us down another platform. Then...our train magically appeared ... imagine that! It was a good experience bc the train was not full. We went to the 911 memorial which was so incredibly emotional that I will not go into that here. Too much heartache to describe. I actually felt ashamed to be there because I have been so blessed to have not lost a loved one in either the attacks or the resulting war. Our hearts were heavy. We went to the shop and I "strongly supported the cause" by buying everything they had there.
We had lunch at a local deli then took the Statement Island ferry to go by Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. We met some girls from canada that were celebrating their 30th birthday.
I dragged everyone over to Century 21 to check out some shopping. I found a lot of cute stuff but only realized that the Women's clothes were a level above. Good lord, it was a good thing I never made it up there bc I had a ton of stuff just from the handbags, accessories and lingerie. Had I gone up there, I might never have come down. Then I we were headed to the subway when we saw an old church. It was St. Paul's which has the George Washington pew as well as much 9/11 memorabilia bc it survived the towers collapsing and had a lot of involvement in the following year. We recognized it from the news bc it was the church that had been covered with fliers and prayer cards.
The subway ride back was more exciting. We were packed in like sardines and got to hear a lot of real NY ire! Woohoo!
After that we came back to the hotel to regroup. I thought we were going to lose Iva while we set up our evening plans but she was able to power through! :)
We headed out and found our first really tasty street vendor for a quick snack since our dinner reservations were late.
We were headed to Bryant Park for some shopping and dinner. However,  we got super sidetracked at several stores. I got a name plate for Tucker from a street vendor, went to the Hershey store, the swatch store, the toys r us(which is ridiculous and has an amazing ferris wheel inside with cute character cars) and the just kept sucking us back in.  We would all start leaving and get sucked right back in. I got sucked into spending $22 on a photo with captain america for tucker. Well, I am weak... plus we had to walk through freaking CandyLand to get to the stuffed animals! No buenos for me!!! :)
So, we finally got over to Bryant Park (reminder: our destination) to get some ornaments we had seen the night before. We did that as well as going to other shops where I bought everything not bolted down. I had to yell at my girls bc they were making me look bad. I was the only one buying crap!
I got an adorable new hat along with several other fun purchases! :)
We did get to our dinner reservations in time and had a lovely dinner with a lot of wine.
We went back into 5th Ave again and back to Rockefeller Center where we saw the Today show set and went to the NBC store. I bought too much again but I love NY! :)
What a great day!
Early morning tomorrow with brunch! Super excited for another amazing day!
Funny side note : Iva just crawled into bed and announced that she didn't take her codeine cough medicine bc she is Sooooo F$*#ing drunk! Woohoo! We got her stinking  plowed! :)
